Enlivening the Minds, Delighting the Senses

People with dementia need constant cognitive and stimulation as a form of functional maintenance due to the progressive declining nature of illness.

The programs under the stands of Enlivening Minds, Delighting Senses (EMDS) aims to provide optimum sensory and cognitive stimulation to help delay decline in cognitive function and skills in activities of daily living.

Initiatives

1. Buddy and I
Use of equine assisted activities that focuses on cognitive and sensory stimulation to empower and enthuse resident’s communication, expression, bonding with one another as well as fulfilling each other’s attachment needs.

2. Cognitive Rehabilitation Programme
Creation of discovery stations of cognitive and sensory stimulation items that enable resident’s daily engagement in variety of cognitively stimulating activities

3. Joy in Dining
Therapeutic dining experience using the well-designed Eatwell set to empower residents in self-feeding.

4. Food for Thought
A series of interactive thematic cognitive stimulation activities that stimulates different cognitive functions.

5. Multisensory Stimulation Therapy
A sensory focused program catered to residents who have lost the cognitive and physical abilities to engage in activities by providing them a multisensory rich environment to interact and awaken their senses.

6. Sound of Beamz
Use of technology as a medium to encourage resident’s interaction to music and creative expression.

7. Sensory Spark
A multisensory stimulation program for those who are still capable of self-engagement via provision of a variety of sensory tools to the residents with/ without facilitation to fulfill their sensory needs.

 

Therapy Through Work

Apex Harmony Lodge recognizes that most elderly in Singapore has a strong work ethic and work constitutes a major part of self-identity. Being diagnosed with dementia does not erase the need to utilise their skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to society.

 

 

Nurturing the HeART

People with dementia can be artists through engagement in visual arts and performance arts. These activities have therapeutic elements that enhance the well-being of people with dementia. The initiatives under Nurturing the Heart (NTH) strand aims to provide platforms for people with dementia to relate to and engage in arts in their daily lives and also to experience and express themselves through arts.

Fun & Fit

Morning Venture is a community program that enables our residents to actively socialise with the public in the neighbourhood. This community programme allows our residents to engage their senses and promotes normalized living in a natural environment.

 

 

Intergeneration Bonding Program

With Person-Centred Care (PCC) as the main philosophy of care, Apex Harmony Lodge hopes to provide integrated, holistic and enabling care for our residents. Having social psychology as one core component of care, we value the importance of building positive relationships for them.

Admission
Residential Care, Day Care and Respite Care

Applicants must be diagnosed to be suffering from dementia. They must be Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents.
(Applicants must be free from infectious lung disease).
